SAFE Alliance seeks a Sexual Assault Victim Advocate (PRN) for the Community Services Program in the Sexual Assault Victim Advocacy department. The primary responsibilities of the Sexual Assault Victim Advocate (PRN) staff is to commit to a minimum of 48 hours of on-call per month. You self-schedule, so there is ample flexibility. PRN Advocatess are not onsite while on-call; you may or may not be dispatched during your shift. Build strong survivor relationships and deliver survivor-centric solutions.

We are dedicated to ending violence through prevention, advocacy, and comprehensive services for individuals, families, and communities that have been affected by abuse. 

In the past two years, our community outreach and education has provided over 400 trainings to over 7,000 community members. Our various housing and shelter programs have provided over 46,000 nights/days of care and served over 3,000 youth and adults directly affected by abuse. We have provided over 10,000 callers/chats/texts, walk-in advocacy and crisis interventions or face-to-face emotional support through our 24/7 confidential SAFEline.

Position Details:

We are looking for several persons to work on a PRN, non-exempt basis for an hourly salary of $21.77 dependent upon experience. The work location will be based at our Grove Campus in the East Austin area. This position will include some travel with no ability for remote/hybrid work. $30 on-call bonus for an 8-hour shift.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in social or behavioral sciences, or related field, preferred OR 2 to 4 years of relevant experience in customer service, direct medical client support, legal advocacy, law enforcement or behavioral/social services
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
  • Knowledge of issues related to gender-based violence, sexual assault and domestic violence.
  • Must have ability to remain calm while providing crisis stabilization and establish rapport and trust without self-disclosure of your personal history.
  • Must be able to work well with a variety of other first responders including medical staff, forensic nurse examiners, law enforcement and victim services.
  • You must have and maintain reliable transportation and state-required vehicle insurance and registration during participation in the program and arrive at any medical facility in Travis County in less than 60 minutes.
  • Emergency Departments recommend annual flu shot; working in hospital environments may include exposure to patients with a multitude of medical conditions.
  • This position requires driving. You must have a valid, State of Texas Driver's License (If in possession of an out-of-state license, obtain a State of Texas Driver's License within 90 days of beginning employment.) AND at least three (3) consecutive years of driving experience OR one (1) year of driving experience if over 27 years of age AND an acceptable driving record that covers at least the last three years of driver history.
  • This position requires completion of the 40-Hour Office of Attorney General Sexual Assault Advocacy Training Program in person within six (6) months of starting employment, along with participating in annual continuing education throughout your employment. 
  • Pass all required criminal history background checks (including an FBI fingerprint check if applicable), as well as a pre-employment drug screen and TB test, if applicable.
